Discover Renault Classic at a weekend that will go down in history
September 20th 2019

The cars have been selected and famous drivers are primed and ready... Everything’s in place for the first ever Mornay Festival, a weekend celebration of prestigious historical vehicles that takes place outside the French town of Bonnat, at the heart of the Creuse, this weekend (September 21 and 22).

As a festival partner, Renault Classic has planned a raft of activities, meetings and moments of fun to make this an exceptional motoring weekend. The vehicles and drivers who have played an integral part in Renault’s sporting history will also be on hand to dazzle their fans and share their anecdotes.

Built in 1997, the Mornay track is nestled within 40 hectares of century-old trees that surround a stunning castle. Offering a combination of technique and speed, the modular three-kilometre track is the ideal backdrop for these iconic classic cars that have been selected to show off their racing performance.

Among the icons taking part in the demonstrations and parades, Renault Classic will present the Renault 21 Supertourisme that Jean Ragnotti drove to victory in the 1998 championship. Alongside it will be the legendary Renault Maxi 5 Turbo and the Renault 5 Turbo Europacup, that also found glory at the hands of the young “Jeannot”. They will be accompanied by a splendid A110 1800 Group 4 ex Nicolas/Todt.

Formula 1 fans won’t feel overlooked either, with two models on show: the RS01, which is the diamond brand’s first ever F1, nicknamed “The Yellow Teapot” when Jean-Pierre Jabouille drove it; and the RS10, the single-seater developed for the F1 world championship in 1979. Racing enthusiasts will also delight at the profiled bodywork of the unique Riffard Renault Tank, as it makes its first appearance in France after a very heavy restoration.

These classic cars will take to the track several times over the weekend, but there will also be opportunities to get autographs from some of Renault’s legendary drivers such as Jean-Pierre Jabouille, the man with 55 Formula 1 Grand Prix under his belt, who brought home Renault’s first ever F1 victory, and Ragnotti, the beloved driver and worldwide racing personality. The entire Renault Classic team will also be on hand to make this weekend one to remember forever.

It is essential to book tickets in advance, and registration is open up to the day before the event. Go towww.circuit-mornay.fr to make the most of this exceptional day!
