Renault 17 has a full and illustrious past.

It formally walked off with wins in rallies from 1972 to 1975. It would be the first Renault model to win a World Rally Championship event. The victory of Jean-Luc Thérier and Christian Delferrier in the Press on Regardless Rally was celebrated in 1974. In all, 14 official cars would be prepared by the factory. The vehicle on display is the latest and most successful of the series. It is a group 5 version which was made lighter by using aluminium components.
