An innovative model
In 1909, no fewer than 9 types of chassis were created, together with a new monoblock 4-cylinder engine, a new 6-cylinder, and a multitude of patents including a hydraulic speed limiter.
The BY touring saloon was part of this process. It was therefore equipped with a pneumatic device for starting the engine, with permanent cooling by turbine-assisted thermosiphon, and with hydraulic dampers.
A lasting success
Prestigious in its technology, refined in its cabin interior, the "BY" was equipped with some celebrated coachwork, notably that of Kellner, and is a Renault which, over 100 years after its birth, has more of a taste for life than ever.
