The "BY" is one of those great Renaults that one might come across in the heart of the Russian plains (where over 200 Renaults still exist), in England or in Argentina...
An innovative model
In 1909, no fewer than 9 types of chassis were created, together with a new monoblock 4-cylinder engine, a new 6-cylinder, and a multitude of patents including a hydraulic speed limiter.
The BY touring saloon was part of this process. It was therefore equipped with a pneumatic device for starting the engine, with permanent cooling by turbine-assisted thermosiphon, and with hydraulic dampers.
A lasting success
Prestigious in its technology, refined in its cabin interior, the "BY" was equipped with some celebrated coachwork, notably that of Kellner, and is a Renault which, over 100 years after its birth, has more of a taste for life than ever.
