In 1907, Renault produced the long-chassis Type XB touring saloon as part of its high-end range.
Fruitful innovation
Type XB featured all of Renault’s latest technical innovations, including the 4-cylinder engine with its dual 2-cylinder castings (dubbed 14/20 CV), distributor, forged front axle, and even double-acting hydraulic shock absorbers.
The top of the Renault range
The vehicle was designed to provide guaranteed comfort and optimum quality to passengers on long journeys. Most notably, it boasted an engine with a wide operating range and a 4-speed gearbox. Its carefully crafted interior would also affirm its positioning, meeting all the criteria of a premium car and elevating this Renault vehicle to world-class status in countries like Argentina, Great Britain, Russia, and more.
The model presented and sold on 1 June 1907 was repurchased by Renault in 1963 and then restored in the 1990s.
