A look back at an event full of emotion
A year of celebrations
Launched in 1972, Renault 5 is celebrating its 50th birthday this year. To mark the occasion, Renault entered two Renault 5 Alpine Group 2s and a Renault 5 Turbo. These two models stood out in their day in competitions and are enormously popular with the general public.
A fourth car was also part of the official Renault team: a Renault 17 Gordini. This car celebrated its 50th birthday in 2021 and should have taken part in last year’s Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique. The 2021 event was cancelled due to the pandemic. Renault 17 came back with a bang this year!
Fantastic performances
The crew excelled themselves this year with fantastic performances!
In the SR4 special, Julien Saunier and Jean-Pierre Prévot finished in first place on board Renault 5 Alpine Group 2 No. 18.
The next day it was Christian Chambord and Patrick Fourestié’s turn, taking second place in the SR6 special at the wheel of Renault 5 Alpine Group 2 No. 11
What a lucky day! The Prévot brothers, Florent and Grégory, finished first in the fog in the SR7 special in Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid with the famous Renault 17 Gordini!
Christian Chambord and Patrick Fourestié were right on their tail with a fantastic fourth place in this same SR7 special.
Arrival in Monaco
The four crews arrived in Monaco, tired but happy to have experienced such a wonderful adventure.
